The location of this film has to reflect the mood of the film. It has to reflect the financial situation that the characters are struggling with. However, it is important to find the level of financial despair the characters have. It is important to note that the characters are not poor, but they are not wealthy, they have not been privileged children, nor have they been hard done by. they don't completely live for the weekends but they focus most of their energy there. They don't hang around in gangs but take drugs regularly for recreational use. Nathan, the carrier of the gun, is also not in a gang but the type of guy you don't want to mess with. Someone who often wants to starts fights. He has friends who he can call in if he is in trouble but is above the age of where a gang is involved. The location has to reflect these characteristics. Immediately, I thought to the suburbs of London. The beauty of the story is that it is based on similar events that I know have happened it the past. This makes the area to which I live a perfect location. The area of Sutton fantastically sums up the way in which a community can have so many different personalities. There are poor council estates which stand only a mile away from a row of million pound houses.
Above is the picture of roughly where the film will be set. Next to that is a few example picture so the rougher part of town. There is also a small crew application that I filled out in order tog et permission from the council to film in the location that I was looking for. |
